This
week Learning Cloud proudly became a member of the Australian Marine
Conservation Society (AMCS), a charity who has been protecting Australian
ocean wildlife since 1965!
Focusing
on the protection on threatened ocean wildlife (such as sharks, seals and
whales), they also fight to protect our coasts from inappropriate development,
make our fisheries sustainable, reduce marine pollution and create large marine
sanctuaries.
Among
their achievements, the AMCS have:
·
Contributed
to the global ban of commercial whaling
·
Lead
the campaign to have the Great Barrier Reef secured as a marine park (later
recognised as a world heritage area)
·
Won
a successful international court case against Japanese whaling -just to name a
few!
Not
only will Learning Cloud contribute toward the great work being done by the
AMCS, but we will also be offering some exciting scholarships and work
experience for eligible students in the coming year! Stay tuned for more
details!
You can
learn more at http://www.marineconservation.org.au/
and contribute by signing petitions, fundraising, volunteering, and of course
DONATING! You can even do some Christmas shopping at the site, with proceeds
going toward marine conservation.
