10 ways to make study easy!

10 ways to make study easy!

Students love our learning management system because it takes the hard work out of study. Our system allows students to learn at their own pace regardless if the course is face to face, online or even correspondence and at a time they prefer and in the most comfortable location. The Learning Cloud learning management system is a revolution that has dramatically altered how people are (or can be) educated. And even better: Our Learning management system will even save you time and money.

In the real world, students learn informally. They learn by doing. They learn by trial-and-error, by observing exemplary performers, and by struggling to accomplish tasks. The beauty of our learning management system is that it incorporates this wisdom to enhance the experience.

Interactive lessons that you can reply complete with fun educational games so that you can test your knowledge.  In fact, it's surprising just how easy it is to learn when the course in made fun.

Learning Clouds 365 delivery systems makes the delivery of web and mobile-based courses easy. The platform has a powerful API to make the system fully extensible and includes fun integration's that will keep you engaged .
Who else has this reaction when it’s time to sit down, open a book, and reread the same material over and over again?  I know that’s how it used to be but not any more but you still need to have some discipline.  Our tips include:

Get Organised

The toughest thing for me when it comes to studying is actually knowing what I should be studying for.  Getting organised will ensure that you don’t lose focus and that you don’t accidentally study the wrong thing – because that is just a waste of time.  Make sure you have a planner with the test dates written down.  You’ll also want to make sure you keep the study guides for specific classes nearby so you can check things off once you’ve studied them.

Stay Away From Distractions

Studying with friends may seem like a great idea at first, but unless it’s for the same course there is really no reason to study with them.  You can easily be distracted with random conversation and the two hours you spend at the library will result in nothing more than the both of you memorising the latest gossip, not the curriculum that’ll be on the test.
You’ll also want to go out to study.  It can seem counterproductive, but staying at home and studying offers too many temptations – trust me.  With Netflix, your bed, and your refrigerator nearby, you’ll probably wind up binge watching some episodes with your book open next to you.  Going to a library or a coffee shop makes you focus on studying instead of everything back home.

Use Different Methods

Doing the same of anything over and over again will be tiring, exhausting, not to mention boring!  If you’re just reading a book for the couple hours you’re studying, you’ll most likely fall asleep or just not retain any of the information anyways.  You should always use different methods to study.  Read your book, look at your notes, and even make flashcards.  Keeping things new and different will help you study longer.  When you get bored of one way, move on to the next!

Carve Out Time

A lot of people use the excuse that they just don’t have time.  Okay, so make the time!  When you know you have assessments coming up, take off of work a couple days and actually schedule times when you will study.  That way, when people ask you to do something you can tell them you have to study.  And this will also free up some of your time to make plans.  If you schedule when you’re going to study it’ll make it a lot easier and stress-free when you do decide to make plans with friends.
Studying can be a hassle for everyone but it doesn't have to be.  Just remember these 10 steps:

1. Pick a Place and Time
2. Study Every Day
3. Plan Your Time
4. Discover Your Learning Style
5. Review and Revise
6. Take Breaks
7. Ask for Help
8. Stay Motivated
9. App it Up
10. Look After Yourself

To help keep you motivated, Learning Cloud will even provide you with an amazing APP! Check it out at https://www.mystudylife.com/

Free Chromebook for all students!

Learning Cloud has recently partnered with Toshiba and Google to offer our students a learning experience like no other.

In addition to a state of the art learning management systems and free textbooks, students will now be able to improve their learning with the addition of a Toshiba Chromebook which will be included as standard with our Diploma, Certificate and Statement of Attainment courses.

Your Chromebook will be configured with educational apps to make your learning experience simpler and much more enjoyable. Studying a Microsoft Word course? Your Chromebook will arrive with Word pre-installed. Looking at getting into the health industry? You can expect a medical terminology dictionary ready to go.

We believe that the addition of the Chromebook will make it even easier for students to stay motivated, and won’t see them fall behind due to slow, out of date laptops and PC’s.

Last year the implementation of our new online learning management system saw course completion rates sky rocket. This in due to one main factor: it’s simplicity. The system is easy to use for people from all walks of life, whether you are a computer pro or novice.

As opposed to being just downloadable PDF’s, students can watch videos, slides and other forms of multi media. They can interact with both tutors and students alike. They receive instant notifications when an assessment is marked and new modules are made available.

Our hope is that the Chromebook will make the student experience even simpler and we expect to see even more students graduate with flying colours!

For more information on whether you are eligible for a free Chromebook, visit our website or call us on 1300 650 569.

Motivational Video for every student

A powerful message that will inspire everyone!

We have been such big fans of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak (no, not because of the IPhone!) since our study days and we have always found the story inspirational.  From meetings at the home brew computer club to seducing the world of venture capital, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak changed the world in a profound way.
In 1995 in from in front of the graduating class at Stanford,  Steve jobs delivered one of the most powerful speeches that I have ever heard in my life and it was delivered just months after Steve went into remission for pancreatic cancer.

Below is a short film that we put together using parts of the film, parts of the interview at Stanford mixed with a little bit of Moby for good measure.

What is SCORM?

In a nutshell, being SCORM certified means that Learning Cloud is up to date with Online Learning.
SCORM stands for "Shareable Content Object Reference Model" and it is a set of technical standards developed for eLearning software products. In its essence, SCORM enables interoperability between eLearning software products. Specifically, the model determines how online learning content and Learning Management Systems (LMS) communicate with each other.

How did SCORM come about?

Back in the nineties, the US government was doing a lot of online training across all of their different departments. Each department operated autonomously developing their own training courses and delivering them via the LMS of their choice. As you can imagine, this led to a lot of content duplication and results located all over the place. Without any standards, there was no interoperability between the various departments' content and all of the proprietary LMSs being used. Therefore, in 1999 the Department of Defence tasked a research group called Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) with the job of developing a set of standards which later became known as SCORM.

What does it mean when it says Learning Cloud is SCORM 1.2 Certified?

SCORM 1.2 is one version of the eLearning software standards that have evolved over time. There are currently 3 versions and the latest one has a few different editions. Released in October 2001, SCORM 1.2 is the most common and widely adopted version that will be around for a good, long while to come. When we say we're SCORM 1.2 Certified, this means that we have sent our product to ADL, it has passed the SCORM 1.2 Edition LMS certification process and ADL has confirmed that we have implemented the SCORM 1.2 standards correctly.

Does New Zealand really need a new flag?

Flags represent honor, respect, and pride and are used for organisations, states, cities, and nations. Many countries are widely recognised by their flags, and many have had several flag throughout their history. New Zealand is no exception. The New Zealand flag represents the entirety of the nation and its people. Its widely recognised royal blue background is said to be representative of the expansive sea and clear skies that accompany the topography. The stars that make up the Southern Cross give homage to the nation’s location within the South Pacific Ocean. Additionally, the Union Jack on the flag, pays homage to New Zealand's beginning as a British colony.

The New Zealand flag that is flown high and proud today has not always been the nation’s official flag. It first was designed and then was adopted back in 1902 during the turmoil and power of the South African War. For over sixty years prior, the Union Jack flew high and proud over the land. But this flag was not the nation’s first flag either. Between the yeas of 1834 and 1840, the country’s flag officially was the Flag of the United Tribes of New Zealand. Very different in look and feel, the flags of this nation have gone through changes over the centuries, but it has been well over 100 years since a new flag design was introduced. This has brought about the new push among some New Zealand natives- that it is time to get a new flag design and that it is high time to retire the current flag design.
Debate on possibly changing the New Zealand flag has been going on ever since the first flag design was accepted, but the debate over retiring the current flag began in 1973. This first push for change was voted down  by a very large majority vote by the Labor Party.  In 1979, Allan Highet, Minister of Internal Affairs, suggested that a flag change was in order and made an official call for an artist to design a new flag. The initial design idea was for a flag with a silver fern against a solid black background, but it did not get much support and the new design never made it off the planning table.  From then till the present, the flag has remained the same though there have been several motions to begin working on new designs.
Some residents of New Zealand say there is no need for a new flag and other say that it is time for a change and the country needs a flag that better reflects their current place in the modern world. Prime Minister John Key made an announcement on the 11th of  March 2014 concerning the plans to begin working on designing and adopting a new flag for the nation.  It is his hope that by the end of 2015 and that New Zealand will have a new flag to present to the people to vote on.
Does New Zealand really need a new flag? Some say yes and some say no. There may be equal evidence presented for both sides of the debate. Only time will tell, but the rest of the world may be seeing a flag flying over New Zealand that is different from the ones in text books in the very near future.

Emaciated, moaning and scarred: Orangutan rescued after spending TWO YEARS tied up

Emaciated, moaning and scarred: Orangutan rescued after spending TWO YEARS tied up

AN ORPHANED orangutan has been rescued from a life in chains after spending TWO YEARS tied up on a farm.
The distressed young animal, called Si Manis, was left emaciated, moaning and covered in scars after spending her short life tethered to a nylon rope to stop her from roaming free.
A local farmer from a village in Labai, Ketapang District in Indonesia, had found the female primate as a baby in 2012 and took her home out of pity but had little knowledge how to care for the abandoned animal
Instead of a natural diet of fruit and vegetables the well-meaning farmer, Paulus, fed Si Manis a human diet of condensed milk and fried foods and tied her up to stop her escaping.
However, after two years, Paulus realised the extent of Si Manis' suffering and reached out to the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA).

After coming here Si Manis did not want to eat the fruit. After a few days here she was sick with diarrohea due to changes in her diet.

The young orangutan was quickly taken into custody and transferred to the International Animal Rescue (IAR), where she joined other animals of her kind and learnt how to live in the wild.
Richa Fery Yuliana, an IAR vet in Ketapang District, said: "Si Manis was always given sweetened condensed milk and ate rice, tofu and fried foods, like the human beings who cared for him. But here we try in general to feed the orangutan fruits and vegetables.
The plight of the animal was not immediately following her rescue, as it took Si Manis a few days to adjust to her new diet.

Richa added: "After coming here Si Manis did not want to eat the fruit. After a few days here she was sick with diarrohea due to changes in her diet."
IAR is teaching Si Manis to behave like other orangutans at a 'baby school' so she can learn the necessary skills to survive in the wild.
"Si Manis can learn how to make a nest as with other orangutans. Of course we slowly introduced Si Manis with other orangutans, not directly to the baby school, then we combine her with other orang-utans," said Richa, adding: "After going through all the processes we can release her into the forest."
With the help of our students studying the Environment & Wildlife Management Courses along with those students studying Pet & Animal Care Courses Learning Cloud Australia has launched both an internal and external campaign to to boost donations to care for this beautiful animal.

Learning Cloud Australia Partners with the ORANGUTAN project.

Australia’s own Learning Cloud is pleased to announce that it has partnered with an animal preservation venture called The Orangutan Project, in following with its policy for the protection and preservation of animal species which are considered to be at risk.

Learning Cloud fully expects this partnership to help create an increased awareness of the need to protect and preserve the majestic orangutan, who is not only a beautiful part of our environment but also fulfills an essential role in maintaining a well-balanced ecosystem.

To this effect, Learning Cloud Australia has become a Green Partner with The Orangutan Project with the end goal of supporting a variety of Wildlife Protection Units in Sumatra, as well as carry out a wide range of activities to create an increased public awareness. The agenda of said activities will be announced as they are defined, yet will include promotional actions of a diverse nature while allowing students to participate in the programs.

As a true Australian enterprise, at Learning Cloud we believe our world should be populated by the most diverse animal species, and we have a deep personal understanding of the damage that can be caused to these same species by poaching and human intervention. It is because of this, that we have chosen a cause we deeply believe in to give us an opportunity to do more for the world that surrounds us. To continue in this line, we will release more information as it becomes available and throughout the duration of the partnership. Students studying any Environment & Wildlife Courses or completing the Certificate In Wildlife Conservation will have the opportunity to volunteer throughout these centres.

About The Orangutan Project

The Orangutan Project (TOP) is one of the world’s most important non-profit organizations dedicated to the preservation, rehabilitation and reintroduction of orangutans into their natural habitat, with the goal of saving both species of orangutan from endangerment and extinction. At the same time, TOP promotes the protection of the rainforest, together with the creation of local partnerships for the conservation of displaced orangutans.

Through all this, TOP closely collaborates with several conservation projects and has become a dedicated protector of the orangutan habitat, with proprietary programs focused on stopping poaching, logging and other illegal human activities which damage the orangutan’s habitat throughout Indonesia.
At this time there are over 2,000 orangutans living in special facilities in Borneo and Sumatra. For more information, please visit http://www. orangutan.org.au//.
